Step-By-Step Realistic Standing Dog Drawing Tutorial

  1. Start by drawing a circle for the dog’s head. This will be the foundation of your drawing, so make sure the circle is the right size and shape for the breed of dog you are drawing.
  2. Add a small, slightly elongated oval for the dog’s nose. This should be located just below and to the left of the circle.
  3. Draw a line from the bottom of the circle down to the ground, curving slightly to the left. This will be the dog’s neck.
  4. Add two lines coming off of the bottom of the circle, one on either side. These will be the dog’s front legs. Make sure the lines are the right length and thickness for the breed you are drawing.
  5. Draw a long, slender rectangle coming off of the end of each of the front legs. These will be the dog’s feet.
  6. Add a long, curved line coming off of the bottom of the neckline, curving slightly to the left. This will be the dog’s back.
  7. Add two lines coming off of the end of the back line, one on either side. These will be the dog’s hind legs. Make sure they are the right length and thickness for the breed you are drawing.
  8. Draw a long, slender rectangle coming off of the end of each of the hind legs. These will be the dog’s hind feet.
  9. Finally, add any details you want to your drawing. You can add fur, muscles, and other details to make your dog look more realistic. You can also add a tail and ears if you like.
